The efficient utilization of biomass is becoming increasingly important due to the limited non-renewable resources like fossil fuels. To date, replacing petroleum feed stocks by biomass requires efficient methods to convert carbohydrates to various chemical compounds. Therefore, there is an increasing demand for developing new processes and efficient catalysts for chemical industry. We report the preparation of ionic liquid based polymer-supported metal catalysts for the conversion of sugars to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) andversatile intermediates |
