To determine the effects on permeability, solubility and diffusion coefficients caused by thermal aging and crosslinking of polyimide sample of different thicknesses and pressures with pure gases. This comprehensive investigation will be the first detailed look at thickness contribution to sorption, permeation and transport characterization of polyimides in both their crosslinked and uncrosslinked forms. The performance of samples under realistic feed conditions involving not only CO2 and CH4, but also water and condensable hydrocarbons to test the efficacy of thermal aging vs. covalent stabilization will be evaluated. The rate of permeability loss and densification were determined by using refractive index change. The Lorenz-Lorentz equation was used to relate changes in refractive index to densification and volume relaxation with aging time. |
