Hydrophobic drug (paclitaxel) was encapsulated into thermosensitive micelles to show sustained release of the drug. Hydrophilic monomethoxypoly(ethylene glycol)(mPEG) was conjugated with hydrophobic deoxycholic acids(DC) to form thermosensitive block copolymers. Theses block copolymer (mPEG-DC) aqueous solutions formed micelles above a certain concentrations. The micelle formation was confirmed by the dye solubilization method, 1H-NMR spectra in D2O/CDCl3, the transmission electron microscope, and dynamic light scattering. Hydrophobic drug could be loaded in the hydrophobic core of micelle. The loading efficiency and the release profiles of the drug were measured by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). |
