Electrical Properties of Silicone Composites Filled with Silicone oil Modified Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Decorated Silver Nanoparticles |

The purpose of experimental is to confirm the electrical properties of silicone composites filled with silicone oil modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) decorated silver nanoparticles prepared by solution processing. The pristine MWNTs are oxidized (COOH-MWNTs) and converted to the acyl chloride functionalized MWNTs (COCl-MWNTs) using thionyl chloride to introducing silicone oil. Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) and thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) results show that COOH-MWNTs are converted to COCl-MWNTs, which are subsequently reacted with silicone oil (Si-MWNTs). After, Si-MWNTs are decorated with silver nanoparticles. The difference of morphology of COOH-MWNTs, Si-MWNTs and Si-MWNTs decorated silver nanoparticles is observed by high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). Silicone/Si-MWNTs decorated silver nanoparticles composites are shown lower percolation threshold than common silicone composites. |
