제목 The carbonization temperature effect on the surface morphology of carbon fiber from natural fiber by AFM and SEM
초록 In this work, we fabricated carbon fiber through the simple heat treatment carbonization process at 1500 °C and 1700 °C. The carbonized henequen (HQ) and filter paper (FP) at different temperature were characterized by AFM and SEM on a nanometer scale. Carbonized HQ and FP showed impurity removal and heat-shrinkage with the heat treatment and it was getting more when the temperature was increased from 1500 to 1700 °C. However, when the HQ was carbonized at 1500 °C, numerous alkali earth metal particles such as Ca, K were exposed on the surface. These particles can be expected to produce a negative effect of carbonized materials, therefore, in order to use HQ as the precursor of carbon materials appropriate surface treatments was required comparing to FP. As a result, we have shown that carbon fibers based on FP can be a good candidate for the development of environmentally friendly carbon materials for electrodes or other applications.
