제목 Nature Inspired Engineering
초록  Biomimetics is the study of the structure and the function of the biological systems as models for the design and engineering of materials and machines.  It is widely regarded as being synonymous with biomimicry, biomimesis, biognosis and similar to biologically inspired design. This talk has two parts: the general introduction to nature inspired engineering and the case studies of nature inspired engineering under studying at the Pioneer Research Center for Bio-inspired Lightweight Ecomaterials, Inha University.  The bio-inspired technology can be applied to a research on mass production of higher strength, higher elasticity, and extremely light weight advanced nano-composite materials. Abalone shell, human hierarchical bone, integument and shark skin structure are considered to be bio-inspired technique to explore new sustainable, new green and eco-materials such as hybrid automobile interior/exterior materials, energy-efficient building materials and aerospace materials by using the bio-inspired structured nano-composite. These all research areas are quite important in the field of military/construction and energy/environmental technologies by means of the reduction of its weight. It also has open up the horizons for development of novel light materials with high mechanical strength consisting of inorganic nano-particle and polymers.
