Various types of carbonaceous materials have gained tremendous interest due to potential applications including catalyst supports, electronic and optical devices, and functional materials for energy and environment. In particular, hybrid carbonaceous nanostructures combined with inorganic materials have been intensively investigated because the interplay between carbon and inorganic materials provides synergy effects on their electrical and catalytic properties. Herein we introduce a block copolymer template-assisted direct carbonization method to fabricate low-dimensional carbonaceous nanostructures containing noble metal and metal oxide nanoparticles. UV-stabilized PS-b-P4VP block copolymers were directly converted to carbon without the necessity of catalysts and carbon precursors and acted as structure directing templates for ordered nanoparticle arrays. On the basis of this procedure, carbonized TiO2 film was prepared and integrated into the photoanode of DSSCs. |
