Degrees of disorder in doped polymers determine how effectively charge carriers are transported. Here, by using counter-ions that have multi-cyano groups, we investigate the effect of the counter-ion-induced disorder on the TE charge transport in poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT). Changes in degrees of disorder in PEDOT are investigated in several characteristics: the crystallinity, the polaron behaviors, and the density of states (DOS). These changes result in the opposite behaviors of TE properties in PEDOT according to the extent of disorder, and thereby produce a high figure of merit ZT (= 0.21) and a remarkable σS2 (= 630.6 μW·m−1·K−2) in PEDOT with the lowest degrees of disorder. |
