Shape Memory Polyurethane with Embedded Magnetic NiZn-Ferrite Nanoparticle |

A series of shape memory polyurethane (SMPU) was synthesized with the addition of NiZn-ferrite(NiZnFe2O4). Two kinds of polyols i.e., poly(tetramethylene glycol)(PTMG) and hydroxyl terminated poly (dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS) were used to synthesize the SMPU. Nanoparticle was chemically modified to improve dispersion, which was confirmed by SEM. The properties of NiZnFe2O4-polyurethane nanocomposite were characterizes by tensile, dynamic mechanical thermal, thermal stability, electric resistivity and cyclic tests. It was found that the shape memory effect of polyurethane nanocomposite could be induced by inductive heating in an alternating magnetic field. The maximum temperature achievable by inductive heating in a specific magnetic field was observed. |
