Regioregular Poly(3-hexylthiophene) with a low polydispersity was obtained by catalyst-transfer polycondensation. The molecular weight was controlled by the feed ratio of the monomer to the Ni catalyst. The reaction of the polymer with a protected hydroxy aryl Grignard reagent followed by deprotection gave an end-functionalized P3HT. After the end groups of the P3HT were reacted with alkoxysilane coupling agents, we formed self-assembled monolayers of the P3HT on silica surfaces and studied their morphology using atomic force microscopy, and X-ray photoelectrospectroscopy. |
