Gene therapy relies mainly on the transfer of genetic material to a cell, tissue, or organ. Therefore, a key factor for successful gene therapy is to develop efficient carriers for delivering a nucleic acid drug to a target site without loss of functionality. Non-viral carriers have been considered an attractive alternative to viruses due to their safety and ease of preparation, modification, and large-scale production for their translation to clinical settings. In this presentation, polymer-based gene delivery systems designed for enhanced cellular gene transfer will be introduced. |
