제목 | Effect of BCNU from the wafer in vivo against rat malignant brain tumors |
초록 | Carmustine (BCNU, 1,3-bis(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea) is an alkylating antineoplastics agent for malignant brain tumor. Institutial chemotherapy using biodegradable polymers as drug carriers is one of the most effective chemotherapies to control the release of drug during treatment. In this study, the effect of the BCNU incorporated into wafer implanted adjacent to the 9L gliosarcoma was assessed in the sucutaneous models. In the sucutaneous experiment, the tumor cell was implanted in the sbcutatis of the back of rats and subsequently treated with BCNU delievered in controlled release polymers inserted adjacent to the tumor. The interstitial release of BCNU adjacent to the tumor in the back resulted in a significant tumor growth delay as compared with non-treated models. The localized, controlled delivery of chemotherapeatic agent in the subcutaneous tissues via polymeric carriers may be more effective than non-treated models.
