Preparation of cross-linked spherical and vesicular micelles from amphiphilic block copolymers. |

One fundamental problem with block copolymer micelles is their spontaneous dissociation at concentrations below their critical micelle concentration (CMC). Shell or Core cross linking method is general method to overcome this problem. We synthesized the Poly(ethylene glycol-block-succinimide) (PEG-b-PSI) amphiphilic block copolymers. The PEG682-b-PSI130 formed PEG corona spherical aggregates in aqueous solution. And PEG455-b-PSI130 formed vesicle structure in aqueous solution. PSI part of PEG-b-PSI was easily cross-linked by aminolysis reaction with hexamethylenediamine. After cross linking, micellar structures maintained bellow the CMC. The molecular structure of micelles and cross-linked micelles were measured by 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The fixed micelle structure of cross-linked PEG-b-PSI micelles was measured by TEM and AFM. Average diameter and size distribution of micelles were measured by DLS. |
