Chemical modification on CNT and surface wrapping by polymers or surfactants are applied to dispersing CNT, in most cases, along with ultra-sonication treatment. In this study, we apply supercritical fluid (SCF) to CNT for enhancing dispersity, where SCF is expected to attenuate van der Waals interaction between individual tubes. Dispersity of CNT are quantified by measuring absorbance using UV-vis spectroscopy, where we found that milder sonication in the sense of time and power are needed to SCF treated CNT in comparison to one without SCF treatments for effective dispersion. Length changes of CNT by ultra-sonication confirmed by Dynamic Light Scattering and Cryo-EM measurements will also be presented. |
