Synthesis and Characterization of Polythiophene Derivatives Introduced Thiophene Side Chain with Electron Withdrawing Group |

A novel electron donor polymers with high yield, were synthesized by Yamamoto coupling reaction and Stille coupling reaction. The polymers were characterized by 1H-NMR and IR. The photophysical properties for the polymers were investigated by UV Spectrum. The polymers were well soluble in organic solvents, such as chloroform, toluene, and chlorobenzene. The polymers showed broad absorption peaks, PKDTQT showed at 450 nm in solution and at 513 nm in film, PKDTQTT showed at 481 nm in solution and at 560 nm in film. The optical band gap for the polymers in film were calculated by UV edges. The electrochemical properties for the polymers were investigated by CV. The polymers showed HOMO energy level were -5.21 ~ 5.17 eV. The thermal properties for the polymers were investigated by DSC and TGA. The polymers showed Tg at 95, 120 oC and 5 % weight loss at 398, 492 oC. The device performance, PKDTQT showed lower device performances (PCE of 1.1%) compared with these of PKDTQTT (1.6%). |
