제목 Synthesis and characterization of smart hydrogel by gamma ray irradiated silica particles
초록 Hydrogels are three-dimensional cross-linked polymeric structures. These materials are greatly interesting due to their promising applications as sensors, adsorbents, drug delivery systems. We focused on purity and easy synthesis of the smart hydrogel which has compelling properties. The gel was prepared directly by polymerization on hydroxide surface of silica particle. When particles are irradiated with 60Co gamma-ray at ambient condition, the surface is changed from hydroxide to peroxide. The peroxidized nano-particles act as both an initiator and a cross-linker. The hydrogel was made from a mixture of peroxideized nano-particles and acrylic acid. Tg of hydrogel, which is characterized by DMA, is ~ 0℃. UTM data showed that it stand out 30MPa. The hydrogels almost completely recovered their original shapes after release the compression. This hydrogel can swell by 30∼800 times in various solvent.
