제목 Synthesis and gas permeation performance of grafted polyimides
초록 Gas permeation and separation performance of polymeric membrane can be controlled by modifying polymer structures. In order to overcome polymeric membranes’ upper bound line, novel polymer design has been needed having high gas separation performance with proper thermal, chemical and mechanical stability. In this study, hydroxyl group containing polyimides were fabricated to incorporate functional side-groups in the polymer main chain. This grafted polyimide showed higher selectivity than conventional polyimide for O2/N2 and CO2/CH4 gas pairs with slight decrease of gas permeability. This is due to the fact that bulky side-groups of grafting reagent brought about the closer inter-chain distance and hindered diffusion paths for gas transport.
