There's an increasing demand for cheap, light and large capacity batteries these days. Lithium sulfur battery is one of the most probable candidates for the next generation battery. However, there are still many problems for commercialization. ⅰ) The insulating nature of sulfur lead to poor active material utilization and need many carbon materials to conduct electron for occurring electrochemical reaction. ⅱ) The dissolution of reaction intermediates (Li2SX, 8>X>4) that produced during charging and discharging process lead to active material loss and shuttle phenomena. ⅲ) The precipitation of electrically insulating Li2S2/Li2S materials on the surface of both electrodes hinder the mass transference. In order to improve the lithium sulfur battery performance, micro- and/or mesoporous carbons were used. It can hold sulfur and trap the polysulfide efficiently due to its large pore volume and high specific surface area. Here we applied Ni inverse opal as current collector for lithium sulfur battery. Ni inverse opal has relatively large surface area and good electrical conductivity. |
