1, 3-dimethylimidazolium methyl phosphite ionic liquid ([Dmim][(MeO)(H)PO2]) was found its ability to reactwith cellulose asa phosphorylating agent to form a imidazolium-containing phosphorylated cellulose product. New phosphorylated cellulose is soluble in water and has a good flame-retardant property, which might open potential applications inbiochemical processes.SEM and XRD analyses revealed that the crystallinity of parent cellulose was changedfrom cellulose I-crystalline phase to amorphous phase in the phosphoryated samples. FT-IR, Elemental Analysis and 13C-NMR experiments demonstratedthepresence of phosphorous-containing grouplocated onthe cellulose chain in thefinalproductand confirmed that the degree of phosphorylation on cellulose could be controlled by adjusting both reaction temperature and reaction time. |
