Microcapsules, consisting of such biodegradable polymers as hydrophobic poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and hydrophilic poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) containing green fluorescent protein(GFP), were prepared by an oil-in-water emulsion solvent evaporation method. The compositions of biodegradable polymers were 100:0, 90:10, 70: 30, and 50:50 by weight, respectively. The morphology and particle size of the microcapsules were studied by image analyzer (IA) and scanning electron microscope (SEM), respectively. The microcapsule containing GFP was confirmed by FT-IR. The release of GFP from the microcapsules was characterized by UVVis spectroscopy. It was found that the release rate of GFP from the microcapsules was significantly increased with increasing the content of PEO, resulting from the increased hydrophilicity of the microcapsules. |
