Preparation of reduction-sensitive hylauronic acid nanoparticles using facile thiol exchange reaction |

Self-assembled amphiphilic hyaluronic acid nanoparticles have emerged as promising carriers for the delivery of anticancer drugs because of their excellent biocompatibility and ability to recognize specific cancer cells, which overexpress CD44 receptors. In recent years, increasing efforts have been focused on development of reduction-sensitive polymeric nanoparticles due to the elevated glutathione concentration in the intracellular environment. In this study, we have prepared a reduction-sensitive amphiphilic hyaluronic acid conjugate from a thiol-reactive hyaluronic acid derivative using facile thiol exchange reaction. The resulting conjugate was characterized using 1H-NMR, and their self-assembly behavior and redox-sensitive characteristics were investigated using dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. |
