Supercapacitors can be classified according to their energy storage mechanisms into two categories: electric double-layer capacitors and pseudocapacitors. Metal oxides, such as RuO2 or MnO2, and electrically conductive polymers have been used to increase specific capacitance via pseudocapacitive redox reactions. However, poor cycle stability, low electrical conductivity, and high price have limited the practical application of pseudocapacitive materials. Therefore, porous carbon materials with high electro-conductivity have been used as a support material for pseudocapacitive metal oxides. In this study, manganese-oxide-incorporated hierarchically porous carbons were prepared as an electrode for supercapacitors, and their pseudocapacitive performance was investigated. |
