We developed two methods of facile post-treatment process for preparing high-performance organic transistors using direct solvent exposure. The morphological, optical, and electrical properties of conjugated polymer were profoundly influenced by the solubility. First, exposure to an optimized binary solvent mixture comprising methylene chloride and toluene efficiently improved the morphology and molecular order in a polymer thin film. The improved ordering was correlated with improved charge carrier transport in the field-effect transistors(FETs). Second, by dipping into hexane, it is possible to efficiently eliminate the low molecular weight component and also improve the molecular order of a conjugated polymer. These changes also improve the performance of FETs. The correlation between the nanoscalar structural features and the electrical properties enables us to determine both the appropriate dipping time and how the low molecular weight component influences electrical properties. |
