Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes exhibit outstanding mechanical, electrical and electrochemical properties suggesting great potential for vast range of applications. To achieve optimal performance in proposed applications, population of SWNTs should be monodisperse with respect to electronic type. However, it is well-known fact that SWNT exist in a mixture of metallic and semiconducting types, which limit the application despite their excellent properties. In this work, we used chromatographic technique to separate SWNTs. Well dispersed SWNTs are run through a column packed with surface treated glass beads that selectively attract only one specific type. It will make SWNTs bulk separate by their electronic types possible without modifying the sidewalls of SWNTs. This method is very simple and is applicable in large scale, and also can harvest both types of SWNTs while maintaining its initial properties. To invest the purity of separation UV/VIS/NIR and Raman spectra were observed. |
