The phase behavior of water-in-oil (W/O) microemulsion composed of sodium di-2-ethylhexyl sulfosuccinate (AOT) as surfactant, cyclohexane as oleic phase, and two aqueous solutions at different composition ratio is investigated by titration method. This microemulsion can be used as nanoreactor. Three microemulsion regions are determined, and calsium sulfate nanoparticles are prepared at these regions, respectively. The spherical nanoparticles whose sizes are 10-15 nm are observed at which the ratios of AOT/cyclohexane/aqeuous solution are 2.7/97.2/0.1 and 15/83.5/1.5 wt.% two microemulsion regions. In particular, the lamellar type of 10 nm diameter and 100-150 nm length at 29/67.5/3.5 wt.% ratio is also observed. These microemulsion regions and nanoparticle shapes are identified by small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) measurements and X-ray difractometer (XRD). |
