Highly ordered mesoporous organosilicate thin films were obtained using PEO-PLGA-PEO block copolymers as structure –directing agents and BTESE (1,2-bis(triethoxysilyl) ethane (BTESE); bridged organosilicate) as an inorganic precursor. It is noted that the use of a PLGA block, which is much more hydrophobic than the PPO block in typical PEO-PPO-PEO block templates, leads to the effective confinement of the organosilica in the PEO phase during the formation of ordered mesoporous structure in both films and powders. The results of XRD, SANS and TEM indicate that the morphology of prepared organosilica films can be fine-tuned by the mole ratio of block template to organosilicate precursor, pH, and the extent of condensation of the inorganic species. The effects of several preparation conditions are studied to realize well-defined structures. |
