For preparation of SiC, sol–gel process, thermal decomposition of silane compound and chemical vapor deposition has been developed. However, these methods are relatively expensive. Industrially, the carbothermal reduction of silica to produce SiC powders is more interesting. In this study, silicon carbide was made from the water glass solution as silicon source and carbon black as carbon source by electrospinning method and thermal treatment. The slurry of water glass solution and carbon black was electrospun on fiber shape. The fibers were heated at 1600℃ for 5 h. At that time SiO2 and C react for SiC and Na2O get out of the fiber. Prepared samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, and BET. |
