It has been well known that the dielectric surface polarity significantly affects the electrical performance of organic field-effect transistors (OFET). Our group has been reported that organo-compatible polymer chains chemisorbed (referred to as polymer brush) on inorganic gate dielectrics could drastically enhance the electrical performance of various solution-processable OFETs. Here we controlled the surface-coupling densities of different molecular weight polystyrenes on 300 nm thick SiO2 dielectrics for solution-processable TES-ADT, TIPS-PEN, and diF TES-ADT OFETs. The dielectric properties, crystalline structures of the organic semiconducting thin films, and electrical characteristics were systematically analyzed by using various tools, such as contact angle, ellipsometry, AFM, GIXD, I-V measurement, etc. |
