제목 Decoration of Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes with Gold Nanoparticles Using Thiol-functionalized Poly(ionic liquid)s
초록 It is demonstrated that multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) can be hybridized with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) via interfacial engineering of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL). Imidazolium-based poly(ionic liquids) having thiol groups are designed and synthesized to play a dual role in a way that imidazolium cations interacts with the sidewall of MWNTs and thiol groups on PIL provides an affinity to gold nanoparticles. Thus-obtained MWNT-PIL/AuNPs are characterized by transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectric spectroscopy (XPS), and Raman spectroscopy. Major findings are that a high loading levels of AuNPs in the size range of 10-50 nm on the sidewalls of MWNTs can be achieved with a homogeneous and switchable dispersion of MWNT in water or organic solvents. Other detailed results will be presented to support proposed mechanism for the successful hybridization of MWNT and AuNPs.
