Synthesis and characterization of poly(thienylenevinylene) derivative for organic photovoltaic applications |

A lot of conjugated polymers have been used as an active layer for electronic devices because these materials have π-conjugated system which can transfer charges. In order to produce highly efficient organic photovoltaic cells, these materials should have large absorption of solar spectrum by having low band gap property. Especially poly(thienylenevinylene) derivatives show good possibility in this field because they have high charge carrier mobility, and also low band-gap features. In this paper, we report the synthesis of poly(thienylenevinylene) with diverse alky chain directions. Also we synthesized a benzothiadiazole copolymer with thienylenevinylene unit for lower band gap polymer. Optical and chemical properties of these polymers were investigated. We also investigated the device performance of polymer solar cells. |
