Much attention has been paid to an OLED since a small molecule hole transporting material (HTMs) has been successfully applied for decreasing the working voltage of the OLED below 10 V. Although these small molecular HTMs are used for commercialized OLED displays, the requirement for more stable HTM is still offered from OLED manufacturers. As an effort to improve thermal stability of HTMs, many investigations to increase a glass transition temperature (Tg) have been carried out. Polyimides composed of many imide rings exhibit high thermal stability (Tg > 300 oC) as well as good mechanical toughness. In this work, therefore, we introduced new carbazole-containing hole transporting materials which have various imide moieties in their molecules and characterized their thermal, optical, and electrochemical properties. We also fabricated organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) using these new materials as a HTM and characterized their electrical performances. |
