We present a control strategy for the micellar morphology of poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(1H,1H-dihydroperfluorooctyl methacrylate) (PEO-b-PFOMA) diblock copolymer thin films after solvent vapor treatment. The development of the morphology of PEO-b-PFOMA thin films in fluorinated solvent vapor, a selective solvent for majority PFOMA block, as a function of time was investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Semifluorinated diblock copolymeric thin films, cast from chloroform, form irregular spherical micelles; composed of PFOMA core with a PEO corona. Upon exposing the films to solvent vapor, the morphology inverts to highly order PEO core and PFOMA corona. |
