Effect of nanoclays on electrical and morphological properties of TPU/MWCNT/clay nanocomposites |

Nanocomposites of thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs), multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and organically modified clays were prepared by melt mixing using twin screw extruder. TPUs and clays used in this study were two types of TPUs (ether-, ester-) and clays (30B, 25A), respectively. The electrical conductivities of TPU/CNT/clay nanocomposites increased with addition of CNT. In particular, electrical conductivities of nanocomposites were improved in case of coaddition of CNT and clay in TPUs. The more clays were added to TPU/CNT/clay nanocomposites, the better tensile modulus of TPU/CNT/clay nanocomposites were obtained. The results of TEM images, XRD, complex viscosity measurements confirmed good dispersion of CNTs and clays in TPUs. |
