Polydiacetylene vesicles are popular biosensors, because of their blue-to-red chromism under external stimulation, such as heat, organic solvents, mechanical stress, and ligand-receptor recognition. Commonly studied hydrophobic anticancer drug, paclitaxel is encapsulated in PCDA/PEG40S nanovesicle to examine the color transition of Polydiacetylene vesicles. As paclitaxel inside the nanovesicle is released, the chromism from blue to red is observed. The sustained release of paclitaxel from the nanovesicle showed potential for a novel controlled release drug carrier. Also the effect of UV polymerization on the stability of nanovesicle is examined. |
