Synthesis and Characterization of Spiro-Fluorene Derivatives for Blue Organic Light Emitting Diodes. |

A fluorene molecule is known to have high fluorescence quantum yield and thermal efficiency. Here we report new fluorene derivatives, E1 and E2, by introducing spiro-structures for blue light emitting diodes. This structure assists in preventing intermolecular fluorescence quenching which is common in case of dyes. The synthesis of E1 and E2 has performed by Suzuki-coupling reactions. The λmax of absorption spectra were observed at 308nm and 307nm, and λmax of photoluminescence spectra were observed at 420nm and 420nm in THF solution for E1 and E2 respectively. TGA curve shows that E1 and E2 have thermostabilities with 5-wt% loss temperature of 278oC and 385oC respectively. The blue-LED devices have been fabricated for E1 and E2 and their EL efficiency have been studied. |
