Novel Synthetic Process of PAA(Polyarylacetylene) Resin Matrix for the Advanced Carbon/Carbon Composites |

Conventional organic matrixes such as phenol-formaldehyde, pitch for the carbon-carbon(C/C) composites are known to have several problems, including repeated carbonization for the composite fabrication and shrinkage during pyrolysis. Polyarylacetylene(PAA) resin was a slightly branched pure aromatic polymer with some acetylene group containing only carbon and hydrogen. It had high char yield over 85% at 1,000℃. In this study, we synthesized PAA resin using two kinds of Ni-type cyclotrimerization catalysts such as [(Nickelacetyl acetonate triphenylphosphine(NiAA/PPh3) and Bis(triphenylphosphine) Decarbonyl Nickel(BTPPDC-Ni)]. |
