초록 |
The advent of fracturing technology has resulted in abundant and inexpensive natural gas resources. Several companies are building steam crackers which produce olefins from these natural gas resources. These olefins can then be used as a cost effective feedstock in the chemical industry. The conversion of cost advantaged feedstocks to higher margin performance chemicals has changed in industry on a structural and strategic-planning level. Process for the conversion of light olefins into longer chain olefin (LCO) typically yield complex mixtures of by-products. Here, we will discuss the catalytic reaction chemistry for C4 olefin conversion. We used two-dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC-FID-MS) to analyze the complicated product mixture. In this presentation we will demonstrate how olefins can be selectively oligomerized, the oligomer chain growth mechanism, the reaction kinetics, and how to tune the catalyst stability. |
