Stability of O/W emulsion containing thermo-sensitive polymer and gold nanoparticles |

A amphiphilic copolymers was prepared by free radical copolymerization of hydrophobic propyl metaacrylate(PMA) and hydrophilic hydroxyethyl acrylate(HEA). The 1H-NMR spectra of the HEA-co-PMA is recorded in D2O solution and the optical density was measured by a UV/VIS spectrophotometer from 20℃ to 50℃ to confirm the LCST. Gold nanopaticles(GNPs) are prepared by adding a reducing agent to the gold ion in an aqueous phase. GNPs are observed using transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and measure particle size using dynamic light scattering(DLS). The temperature change of GNPs suspension is examined with NIR irradiation in oil. Using HEA-co-PMA as a surfactant, an O/W emulsion containing GNPs and HEA-co-PMA copolymer is prepared. To evaluate the stability of the emulsion, the particle size is measured with an image analyzer after observing the droplet size according to the change of concentration of HEA-PMA with time and presence or absence of NIR irradiation with an optical microscope. |
