Preparation of PLA and ABS with pristine and metal (Al, Cu and Fe) MWCNT nanocomposites has been done by melt compounding to achieve good electrical, mechanical and thermal properties in this study. It can be visible from FE-SEM images that PLA/ABS/MWCNT composites exhibit good dispersion of MWCNT in the PLA/ABS matrix, while PLA/ABS/metal MWCNT composites display MWCNT aggregates and big size of metal particles present in the matrix. As a result, tensile strength and elongation at break of PLA/ABS and PLA/ABS/MWCNT composites are higher than those of neat PLA and PLA/ABS/metal MWCNT composites. Thermal properties are confirmed to thermo stability decrease with addition of metal MWCNT; however glass transition temperature and melting temperature increases. Also, rheological properties exhibit that shear viscosity sharply decrease with addition of metal MWCNT at increase in shear strain. Surface resistivity decrease with addition of MWCNT and metal MWCNT into the PLA/ABS matrix. |
