Synthesizing Silver Nanoplates Using a Combinatorial Polymer Library Approach |

We employed a variety of polymers to regulate the shape of the silver nanostructures. We investigated the effect of polymers on the nanostructure shape formation with respect to their molecular weights and charges, each of which turned out to play significant roles in synthesizing high quality silver nanoplates. The developed silver nanoplates produced by negatively charged or neutral polymers exhibited relatively higher proportion of plate-like structures than spherical ones.On the other hand, the positively charged polymers resulted in more spherical structures than plate-like ones. The size of the silver nanoplates was adjustable by changing the concentration of the seeds. The structures obtained were further analyzed by UV-vis spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. |
