제목 Hybridization of MWNT and silver powder in polyurathane matrix for electromagnetic interference shielding applications
초록 The as-received multi-walled nanotubes (MWNTs) are chemically modified with respect to various oxidative conditions, which include an acid concentration, treatment temperature, and treatment time. The conductivity of MWNT filled polyurethane (PU) composites produced by using the optimal condition is measured as a function of frequency with the content of MWNTs. The experimental results are analyzed using percolation theory. The volume resistivity of the PU composites filled with only MWNT can not satisfy the requirements for shielding materials for highly demanding applications. Thus, conductive polymeric composites are derived from PU matrix filled with MWNT and Ag powder. It is found that a small amount of the MWNT remarkably enhances the conductivity of the filler blend composites through bridging the gap between the Ag aggregates. Electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) of the filler blend composites is measured in the frequency range from 10 to 1000 MHz by using ASTM D4935-89. The measured SE of the filler blend composites could be controlled from about 60 dB to over 80 dB with the compositions of conductive fillers.
