Synthesis of single-crystalline α-MnO2 Nanotubes as electrode material for Supercapacitors |

MnO2 nanotubes with nanopore dimension were prepared by using Hydrothermal method. The as-prepared MnO2 NTs were characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDAX) and Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) transmittance spectra. Morphological analysis by FE-SEM showed nanopore sized tubes with an average aspect ratio of 75 nm. Structural analysis by XRD showed body-centered tetragonal α-MnO2. From EDAX spectra, the estimated value of atomic ratio of Mn to O was 67.38 to 32.62. FTIR spectra showed a strong band at 704 cm-1, which revealed Mn O stretching vibrations of α-MnO2. The composite of MnO2 (55 wt.%), MWCNT (35 wt.%) and PVDF-HFP binder (10 wt.%) was prepared and then casted onto Ni foam current collector for 1×1 cm2 area. The electrochemical analysis such as cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy and charging-discharging were performed in 6M KOH for supercapacitor application. |
