In this work, two types of Ni-plating, namely electolytical and electroless Ni-plating on carbon fiber surfaces, were carried out to improve electric conductivity of the fibers. The surface properties of carbon fibers were characterized using XRD, SEM. The electric conductivity of the fibers were measured using a 4-point testing method. As experimental results, it was observed that electrolessly plated Ni layers had Ni-p alloys on carbon fiber surfaces as revealed by XRD, and the electric conductivity was predominantly increased in the presence of metallic nickel particles on carbon fiber surfaces, and showed the highest value when formed complete metallic layers. |
