Geotextiles are used for separation of two distinct ground layers, slope stabilization, vegetation management and soil erosion control. Three-dimensional geotextiles have been used wherever soil has to be protected against erosion or stabilized on steep impermeable slopes. Most of synthetic geotextiles are non-biodegradable and may cause soil pollution after fulfilling their performance. Nowadays, biodegradable polymers such as poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) are used in various fields considering the environments. The mechanical properties of PLA/PBAT blends are lower than neat PLA and shows poor compatibility. In this study, chain extender is used to improve the mechanical properties and compatibility between both polymers. With the increase of chain extender content, the melt viscosity increased and the compatibility between the PLA and PBAT was improved. There was a little effect on the tensile strength of blend resin. |
