HIGH PERFORMANCE P-TYPE SEMICONDUCTORS FABRICATED BY SOLUTION-PROCESSABLE PENTACENE MATERIALS |

Organic semiconductors have been studied for their use in devices such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs), field-effect transistors (FETs), and photovoltaic cells. Recently there has been great interest in the development of printed organic electronics technologies, which are expected to see use in low-cost, flexible displays and disposable electronics applications. Pentacene is one of the most promising organic semiconducting materials for FETs, since it offers better performance with high charge mobilities than most other organic semiconductors. We here describe the preparation of a soluble pentacene precursors and polymers and their use in the solution-based fabrication of high-performance organic FETs. Trifluorovinyl aryl ether linkages are introduced to the pentacene moiety for improving thermal and mechanical properties after 2π + 2π cyclopolymerization. |
