Alginate/Galactosylated Chitosan/Hyaluronic Acid Scaffold for Bioartificial Liver System |

The research on extracellular matrix(ECM) in a tissue engineering is very important because ECM can organize cells into a three-dimensional architecture, providing mechanical integrity to the new tissue, and providing a space for the diffusion of nutrients and metabolites to and from the cell.In this study, We prepared highly porous, three-dimensional scaffolds composing of alginate(AL), galactosylated chitosan(GC) and hyaluronic acid(HY) for cocuturing of hepatocyte and fibroblast to increase hepatic functions as the ECM of the bioartificial liver. The morphology of the scaffolds was observed by a scanning electron microscope. Mechanical properties of the scaffolds was measured by a tensile test. Also, the cell viability and function of hepatocytes in the scaffolds under coculture system were investigated by an MTT method and an albumin secretion test, respectively. |
