UV filters have been developed to protect skin from UV radiation. However, many organic sunscreens penetrate skin due to its small molecular weight and absorbed into human body after topical application and lead to systemic effects. To prevent adverse effects of UV filter, we designed a new UV filter that is composed of UV filter and polysaccharide. Our new UV filter has an increased molecular weight by polysaccharide. In this study, we compared the UV protection efficacy of UV filter and our newly synthesized UV filter and measured the difference of their skin penetrative behaviors using ex vivo skin permeation study and confocal laser scanning microscopy. after topical applications of UV filters, the concentration of UV filters in plasma was collected over time to demonstrate the correlation with the degree of skin penetration. |
