제목 | Preparation and characterization of PMMA bone cement containing surface modified- UHMWPE |
초록 | The half-life of the commercial bone cement generally used nowadays is about 15 years. To increase the duration of bone cement, UHMWPE has been added to PMMA bone cement. But its inert and hydrophobic surface makes it difficult to cohere itself with PMMA bone cement. To overcome this problem, we modified the surface of UHMWPE with xylene and evaluated the effect of surface modification of UHMWPE on mechanical properties of PMMA bone cement. SEM, XRD, FTIR-ATR, and UTM were used to examine mechanical property The surface of the UHMWPE-treated xylene has been found that the surface of modified UHMWPE was quite rough and swelled and tensile strength was enhanced.
