A Synthetic Polyampholyte for Supramolecular Complexation of Paclitaxel |

Paclitaxel is one of the important and effective anticancer drugs for the treatment of various types of cancers. Due to the hydrophobicity and insolubility of paclitaxel in water, chemophores and ethanol with a potential of cytotoxicity have been used in the current formulation for the intravenous administration. In order to overcome these problems, a synthetic polyampholyte was synthesized as macromolecular carrier using the supramolacular concept. It was found that the formulated complexes of paclitaxel and the polyampholyte showed a higher water-solubility and a stronger anticancer effect on two cancer cell lines such as the human breast cancer and human lung cancer cell line compared to the pristine paclitaxel. |
