Silica-titania hollow nanoparticles (HNPs) with uniform sizes of 25, 50, 75, 100, and 125nm were prepared by dissolution and redeposition method. Surface-functionalized HNPs with cationic, anionic, and neutral functional group were obtained by silane treatment. The cellular uptake, cytotoxicity, and immune response of HNPs of different sizes and surface functionalities are investigated toward human breast cancer and mouse alveolar macrophage cells. The HNPs represents size- and surface functionality-dependent uptake and toxicity. |
